Color Vision: Retinal Blues
نویسندگان
چکیده
Two complementary studies have resolved the circuitry underlying green-blue color discrimination in the retina. A blue-sensitive interneuron provides the inhibitory signal required for computing green-blue color opponency.

Color vision and the four-color-map problem.
Four different colors are needed to make maps that avoid adjacent countries of the same color. Because the retinal image is two dimensional, like a map, four dimensions of chromatic experience would also be needed to optimally distinguish regions returning spectrally different light to the eye. We therefore suggest that the organization of human color vision according to four-color classes (red...

PURPOSE To determine the sensitivity of the Seoul National University (SNU) computerized color vision test for detecting diabetic macular edema. METHODS From May to September 2003, a total of 73 eyes of 73 patients with diabetes mellitus were examined using the SNU computerized color vision test and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Color deficiency was quantified as the total error score o...

The horse has a total visual field of nearly 360°, meaning a horse can just about see its tail with its head pointed forward. A small frontal binocular field of 65° is present. The horse retina is adapted for detection of movement because it contains significant numbers of large-diameter ganglion cells. The nasal extension of the retina, the laterality of the eyes, and the horizontal pupil faci...
متن کاملA rationale for the structure of color space.
The colors perceived by humans in response to light stimuli are generally described in terms of four color categories (reds, greens, blues and yellows), the members of which are systematically arrayed around gray. This broadly accepted description of color sensation differs fundamentally from the light that induces it, which is neither 'circular' nor categorical. What, then, accounts for these ...
متن کاملEarly visual changes in diabetic patients with no retinopathy measured by color discrimination and electroretinography
Early visual changes caused by diabetes include color vision losses and an abnormal full-field electroretinogram. The purpose of this study was to evaluate color vision in type 2 diabetic patients with no clinically detectable retinopathy using an objective psychophysical color vision test, evaluate retinal function assessed by full-field electroretinography (ffERG), and verify the agreement am...
